Temple of Apollo

Apollo was worshipped on this spot longer than any other god in Pompeii. Offerings found here go back to the sixth century BC, when Greek and Etruscan traders were shaping life along this coast. The temple you see now, high on its podium inside a courtyard of columns, mostly dates from the second century BC.
