The Forum

This long open square was the centre of town, where people came to trade and to argue about politics. Stone blocks at the entrances kept carts out, so it belonged to people on foot. Colonnades ran around it, partly two storeys high, sheltering shops, offices and statues of local worthies. Their empty pedestals still line the square.
